New Coordinator of Activiteca

E-mail Print PDF

Hi, I’m Meghan Haslam, the new coordinator at Activiteca.

Meghan H.

I am originally from New Hampshire, but have been living and working in Nicaragua for the last several years. From 2006 to 2009, I taught classes in environmental education, created the 4 Walls Project to improve housing conditions, and worked on various community development initiatives in El Sauce, León with the Peace Corps.

I found out about Activiteca in my search for a job in which I could continue to do effective, hands-on work with an underserved community in Central America. I came to Activiteca in June 2009 and  trained with the founder, Dr. Joan Penzenstadler for my first six months.

I look forward to learning all the details of Activiteca and expanding the organization to support other areas outside of San Pedro Sula. I also hope to integrate the goals of FUNADEH with those of Activiteca to increase the quality and quantity of educational programs benefitting Chamelecόn and future work sites.

Thank you to all the supporters of Activiteca. I look forward to working with visitors and volunteers, so come and visit Activiteca to help and have fun. Stay tuned…there are lots of new programs in development! I appreciate your continued collaboration.

Sincerely,
Meghan Haslam
